Feb 7th Match Report

A good day for the Sheppey Sunday League with two out of the three sides competing in theKent Cups progressed to the next stage. Castle Tavern played host to ManorWood and finished extra time at 4-4, but progressed through 4-2 on penalties. Park Regis Kemsley had an easier time winning 5-1 against Marsh Athletic. Sadly, White Horse bowed out at Bromley against Palace Guard who beat them 5-0.

Top met bottom in division one as Milton and Fulston faced winless Red Lion. Red Lion didnt managed to win but got the next best thing holding Milton to a 0-0 draw and doubling their points tally in the process. Milton still remain five points clear at the top but other sides are mounting up games in hand. Dore United moved to fourth from sixth after narrowly edging out Leysdown by 3-2. Tom McFarley claiming all Dore's goals with a well deserved hat-trick. Calder and Jeffreys replied for Leysdown.

Big scorers in Division Two with Harps working the Towns Club net twelve times. Nick Walshaw netting four times, with Morley (3), S.Goodwin(2), Brace, Peters and Luke Walshaw completing the scoring. Top four in the division were up against each other and it was the Academy that ended top of the class in their clash with Minster Sports. Their was very little between the sides and it was into the second half before Giacomino Vail opened the scoring for the Academy. Tony Atkinson levelled for Minster before James Hewitt grabbed the winner with twelve minutes left. Third and fourth placed Goat and Spike stars fought out a 1-1 draw doing neither side any favours. Scott Taylor the Goat scorer with Grant Bartlett reciprocating for Spike Stars. Lynten and Beach fought out a close affair with one goal deciding the points and it went the way of the Beach thanks to Jay Law.

In Division three Red Lion Reserves kept their top spot after beating Park Tavern by 5-0 with Lewis Thomsett the pick of the scorers with a valid claim for the match ball. Hilltop in second kept pace with a 4-1 win over Classic Real with Bonner(2), Lindsell and Brown the scorers. Sittingbourne Lions claimed three valuable points in a 4-2 win over Kings Head United which keeps them within touching distance of the top. Anthony Pointer another hat-trick hero for the Lions. IOSA Reserves and New Sheppey had a topsy turvy game with the Academy taking the lead before New Sheppey raced into a 4-1 lead, only to allow the Academy to fight back to 4-4, but it was New Sheppey who scored late on to win 5-4. Ryan Philpott grabbing a hat-trick for the Academy on his debut, but Marsh (2), Miller(2) and Patel were left smiling on the final whistle.

In the combination Bourne Rovers are gamely battling on as their goals against column took another battering to the tune of 9 goals. Today it was the turn of Eastern Athletic to boost their goal difference thanks to Grimwade and Creed claiming triples. Park Regis Reserves keep distance from the chasing pack as they overcame Milton Park Rangers by 4-0, Bougard grabbing a hat-trick. Sittingbourne Dogs netted three times against second placed Sailor but it was Sailor who press ganged the points by scoring four. Sporting Sittingbourne have realistic hopes of promotion and furtherpressed home this premise by romping over B & W Athletic by 7-1. The ageing Dave Burgin showing the youngsters how to find the net by scoring three
