DORE METAL SERVICES The Sheppey Sunday League are pleased to announce that for the first time in their 44 year history that we will be introducing a Youth League for the 2010-2011 Season to run alongside our successful Adult League. We will be introducing Divisions for all age groups from the age of U7’s and U8’s (Non Competitive) U9, U10, U11, U12, U13, U14, U15,16's and U18’s the number of Divisions for each age group will be dependent on the number of Clubs that apply for each age group but we are looking to have at least 2 Divisions in each age group if possible. The League will be holding an inaugural meeting to be held at the Conservative Club, Sheerness ME12 1AB on Wednesday 3rd February from 7.30pm to inform Clubs of our intentions and at this meeting Clubs will be given the opportunity to sign up to our new League. We will hold a short presentation on the history of the Sheppey Sunday League where we are today and where we are looking to bein the future. There will be a small buffet laid on at the end of the meeting. League Secretary Mark Rogers said: It’s an exciting time for the Sheppey Sunday League and football in the Swale Area. We have been more than pleased with the progress of our Adult League which is still attracting New Clubs, New Players and Sponsors every year and our Clubs progression in major Competitions such as the Kent Sunday Junior Cup and Kent Sunday Junior Trophy is evident that we are attracting a high standard of player. We have been proactive in our recruitment of new Referees and over the past 2 years set up an initiative whereby prospective Referees do the training course and upon completion and after officiating in 10 games in the League are awarded their course fees back from the League. This Season we have seen our number increase with a further 5 newly Qualified Officials to compliment the already experienced team of Referees that Officiate in the League. We have 100% coverage with Qualified Officials on all our matches this Season which is something we are extremely proud of and this includes Assistants on all our Division 1 games. The League is currently working towards obtaining the coveted Charter Standard League status with a lot of our Senior Clubs applying to become Charter Standard Clubs. The League have been looking into the feasibility of starting a Youth League for a number of months and have decided that there is a need for a new League in the Swale Area with most Clubs having to travel a fair distance to play their football with the Maidstone and Medway Leagues being the closest competitive Leagues and the Faversham Friendly League which can see sides travelling towards the coast to play their games. It is not our intention to take Clubs from other Leagues which maybe detrimental to their Competitions but to give local Clubs a wider choice of where to play their football and we see this as a great opportunity to offer Clubs the chance to make the transition from Youth into Adult Football as part of the Sheppey Sunday League thus safeguarding the future of Grass Roots Football in the area. If any Clubs would like to attend the meeting they would be more than welcome to attend and to confirm their attendance please contact Mark Rogers on 07554 795119 or by e-mail on marklisarogers@aol.com |
